Wedding-- Katrina & Troy

I'll say it--this was my first Temple Wedding to shoot. My second wedding all together. And man, was it fun! How can it not be fun when you're subjects are just grinning ear to ear? And let's face it, I'm a girl. I love weddings and it will forever remind me of my own happy day.
I photographed Troy and Katrina for their engagements just a couple months ago. They picked the perfect over-cast day, the only wedding on the Bountiful Temple grounds. Katrina didn't let the wind and smidge of rain wipe away her smile. It was a happy day, and I loved photographing it!! Congrats you two high school sweethearts, you!

My next blog post is going to be a lesson on White Balance! Woo hoo, I'm going to do my first, How To. Even if only one of you read it, I'm excited! So look forward to that!

Addyson- 2 years old

It's that time again; a photo shoot with my little 2 year old! She seriously surprised me with how tolerant she was. She's really become quite the model. Often times when at the park, she asks me to take her picture. Of course as a photographer, I love it!

I also would like to share a couple tips with anyone who may be aspiring to pick up photography. I know how frustrating it is when you want to learn, and all the photographers out there just hide their knowledge! It's taken me a long time to get where I am now. My dad introduced me to composition, a minor in college taught me a ton about lighting, and I've played around with photo shop on my own. Experience and practice is the best way to get better! Don't give up! I know I still have miles to go, but I'm excited!

I set up a sheet in my daughters room when the light was shining through the window. I set the "back drop" facing the window, and set my reflector (white side) so that the light from the window was hitting it, while facing toward my daughter (in this case, the reflector was to the right of my daughter). You can notice her right cheek is brighter, while her left cheek has some shadows to keep definition in her face. It's important to keep those small shadows of definition, so you don't wash out the face. Especially with adults! The definition keeps us looking our thinnest!

If anyone is seriously interested in learning more technicality, please leave me a comment to let me know! I would love to make some blog posts in the future, explaining a a smidge better with some visuals!

Awww....a smile!
